Nami, a new Japanese restaurant in Goa, serves a tight menu of Japanese classics: sushi, sashimi, a handful of salads, three types of ramen, four gyozas, robatayaki and a few sharing plates. There’s a good variety of vegetarian sushi that goes beyond cucumber-avocado and asparagus tempura to offer fillings like teriyaki shiitake and snow peas, crispy spinach and chilli bean, and sweet potato and sriracha. Sharing plates include mapo tofu with udon noodles, a large plate of crispy vegetable tempura, katsu chicken and fried rice. There are classic cocktails to pair with the food, but more interesting are the sake cocktails like the Shibuya (sake, aperol, passionfruit puree, chamomile syrup) and the Kyoto Sour (sake, agave nectar, tabasco, lemon). There are also three highball cocktails, some featuring Japanese whisky, to try.
