You probably feel vulnerable when you put your work on display, and it’s understandable that you want it to be able to speak for itself. You don’t want to explain to someone why they should buy your art and dread you might come across as “salesy”, pushy, or desperate when you do.

When the feeling that you are conjuring while creating the art is what you are feeling when you are talking to your tribe.

If you wish to connect with your audience,

If you want people to recognize the value of your art,

you need to learn how to speak about your art

Your story is crucial. Not what you tell others only BUT what you tell yourself too.

Here are nine steps to help you do just that:

  • Know your target audience.  

Do you know who your best customers are likely to be?

Who out there will become some of your biggest and most raving fans?

Is it a particular age group, gender, etc?

Do they have particular interests, such as playing guitar, writing blogs, wildlife, gardening, bright colors, human interest stories, nature, etc.?

So the nugget is Define your target audience: The more you know about the people who love your creative work, the easier it will be to connect with them and market to them. Think about your ideal customer and what they like and why they are attracted to your work.

  • Find out where your target audience hangs out.

Knowing your target audience includes research on where those people congregate, both on and offline. Finding out where they meet means you may distribute your marketing materials to these locations in order to contact them. The greatest marketing materials aren’t worth anything if your ideal consumers don’t see them. So, place your marketing materials in the places where they will have the most impact.

Some ideas for marketing messages include:

• If your target market are parents, your message might be about the importance of family time or how your product/service can make life easier for busy families.

• If your target market are music lovers, your message might be about how your product/service can improve their listening experience or help them discover new music.

• If your target market are dog owners, your message might be about how your product/service can make their lives easier or help them better care for their pets.

Some ideas for marketing media include:

• If your target market are parents, you might want to advertise in parenting magazines or on websites that cater to parents.

• If your target market are music lovers, you might want to advertise on music streaming websites or in music magazines.

• If your target market are dog owners, you might want to advertise in pet magazines or on websites that cater to dog owners.

Choose the marketing message and media that you think will reach your target audience the best and then create a plan for how you will use them.

Be consistent with your marketing.

Once you have developed your marketing plan, it is important to be consistent with it. This means using the same message and media on a regular basis so that your target audience will become familiar with your brand.

Some ideas for being consistent with your marketing include:

• If you are advertising in magazines, make sure to advertise in the same ones every month so that your target audience will see your ad regularly.

• If you are advertising on websites, make sure to rotate your ads so that they are seen by as many people as possible.

• If you are using social media, make sure to post regularly and use hashtags that your target audience is likely to search for.

By being consistent with your marketing, you will increase the chances of reaching your target audience

Write to one person. 

Yes, you read it right. A creative entrepreneur should write speak and engage with one person at a time.

Now that you know your ideal customer and where to reach them, you need to target them in your writing: or whatever format you choose to communicate with them.

And don’t rake your brains on where should your office be… because you can run your creative business from home as loong as you have passion, drive and tools to do so.

    These booktok take us to the magical journey of a whole different world.

    But her own journey has not been less magical

    She got an idea to write Harry Potter in 1990. Before she completed the fourth chapter, her mother died. Then she moved to Portugal, taught English, and got married but one year later filed for divorce.

    Being jobless, divorced and a single mum, she was in depression and even considered committing suicide but her mother kept her from taking this drastic step

    She finished writing Harry Potter in 1995 but had no money to publish the book and so she approached multiple publications but then faced a multitude of rejections. In June 1997, Bloomsbury published Philosopher’s Stone with an initial print run of 500 copies.

    By 2013, 500 million copies of Harry Potter sold worldwide and got translated into 73 languages

    The most important lesson that J.K. Rowling has to offer is the value of perseverance, effort, and action on one’s goals.     She acquired her own fan base with her tireless work throughout the long term. She has carved her name as an outstanding entertainer. Meryl is considered as probably the best entertainer to effortlessly the film screen. She has gotten an amazing 17 Academy Award designations and has won 3 out of them. She additionally has gotten 27 Golden Globe selections out of which she has won 8. 

    She has balanced her professional life with a successful private one also. She is the mother of four children and got married to Don Gummer in 1978

    No matter how many awards she wins, no matter how many roles she takes on, Streep never loses sight of the fact that her work is just that, her work. Every actor and actress who talks about her always holds her in the highest regard. Why? Because she is a joy to work with, they say. A JOY!
