Content is king…does the key lie in a great story? Listen to Podcast here
When you conjure up ideas that are offbeat, innovative, and different- keeping the client brief intact, that’s when the magic happens.
In a busy competitive world, capturing attention is challenging.
And retaining it over a long period of time is even more challenging.
But before you get started on a story, profiling your audience is crucial. Understanding their likes, dislikes and their opinions are imperative.
And this has become easier- thanks to social media, search engines, and of course having engaging conversations with your clients.
Having a good story and the way you tell- has never been more crucial. Effective storytellers have gained that edge as they know how to create that ‘hold’ factor. They do not just tell a brilliant story.
They plan, develop, and present it. They profile their audience and give the right context and develop a link between their goals and the listeners’ framework to establish a connection.
A connection is made with the end-user when you educate them or surprise them or do something which is so much different from the rest that they keep coming back for more.
Our stories become richer when they go through the subtle simplicity with longest name of things and achieve something larger than life.
The purpose of writing a compelling story should be clear.
What do you want the audience to do?
Do you want them to purchase a product? Or are you building the brand?
Or you are communicating a newsworthy bit? What is your intent?
Today, the audience not only cares about a good story but the way you communicate with them.
How are you reaching out to your audience? For instance, if your website has a mobile version, chances are… your message is reaching the right audience.
Content needs to be adaptive and responsive continuously. Likewise for the style of communicating.
That thought leads me to ponder on evolving marketing strategies.
How to continuously and creatively use marketing to reach the audience? I guess this discussion is for my next post…
Today ‘digital’ is the way to go. Tomorrow it will be something even more interesting. As our interests evolve, so should our marketing style.
Content is king and as we have seen, there is more to a good story.
