Basic Yoga Poses (Asanas) for Everyone

Well….we….. before you begin with yoga, you would need a good yoga mat to start with, so just click this and check these sets of Yoga mat !!!!!!!!!

 

The word ‘Tada’ means a mountain, so tadasana teaches us to be majestic like a mountain. This asana is the starting position for all the other yoga poses/asanas and involves maximum groups of muscles. It also improves focus and concentration and contributes to increasing height.

 

Procedure:
Stand straight with your feet slightly apart and your arms beside the torso. Slowly lift your heels and balance on your toes.

Firm your thighs while lifting the heels.

Hold the posture for a while.

Also, inhale while you are on your toes taking your hands above your head.

Stretch your hands as far as you can.

While exhaling after a while, gently bring your hands down and lay your feet flat on the mat with relaxation in the thighs and shoulders. Repeat a few times.

 

 

 

  • Vrikshasana (Tree Pose)

Vrikshasana helps in improving body balance and strengthening legs and back. It also tones the calves and makes the thighs well-defined.

Yoga for beginners mostly recommends performing Vrikshana due to its ease.

 

Procedure:

Stand straight on the mat, making sure your spine is straight.

Now, place your right foot high up on your left thigh firmly keeping the sole flat. Find your balance and avoid tumbling.

Take a few deep breaths, raise your arms over your head, and bring your palms together.

Slowly exhale, bring your hands down and release your right leg. Back in the standing position repeat the same with the left leg.

Naukasana is helpful in tightening the abdominal muscles. It also strengthens the shoulders, arms, and upper back.

It helps to maintain balance and leave a sense of stability. 

 

Procedure:

Lie with your feet together on the mat and hands by your side. Inhale and while exhaling slowly lift up your feet from the mat and your chest, simultaneously.

Stretch your hands toward your feet as much as possible. Hold the posture till there is some strain in the abdominal region.

Gently inhale again.

While exhaling comes back to the previous position. Repeat 5-6 times.

 

 

 

  • Sukhasna

Sukhasna is like pranayama in a more comfortable position.

It lets you introspect for a while by just sitting in a warm, relaxing posture.

Sukhasana is a meditation to eventually make the body feel comfortable and takes the mind on a spiritual ride.

 

Procedure:

Sit on the mat with legs crossed also called lotus positions or traditional Indian sitting position.

Keep the back and spine straight as possible.

Place your hands on your knees in Jnana mudra or Chin mudra.

Ease your body and mind, breathe gently.

Bhujangasana is great for your abdomen, lower back muscles, spine, triceps, and chest. It makes the spine flexible and helps in proper inhalations.

 

Procedure:
Lie down on the mat with your abdomen touching the mat, feet together, and toes flat.

Put your hands on the mat, forearms straight with equal pressure on both palms.

Lift your waist slowly, take the torso back with hand support, raise your head while inhaling in.

Hold the posture for a while and then exhale while coming back to the ground. Repeat the process 2-3 times.
